Tarragon essential oil is steam-distilled from the whole tarragon plant, which grows in many European and Asian countries. It has a sweet, anise-like, green, spicy aroma. Taragon oil is used as a fragrance component in soaps and perfumes. It is said to be a strong anti-spasmodic and thus is used to treat dyspepsia, flatulence, hiccoughs, intestinal spasms, nervous indigestion and sluggish digestion. Tarragon should be used in moderation and avoided in pregnancy. (Not available in California)
