Citronella
Poultices of the leaves (C.nardus) were widely used in India and Sri Lanka to treate minor cuts, abrasions and swellings. Extracts of the leaves were used as a febrifuge, stomachic, diaphoretic, diuretic and emmenagogue. The oil is extensively used in detergents, waxes, household soaps and cleaners and to a minor extent in perfumes and toiletries. Citronella oil is also widely used as an insect repellent.
