Topical Application (for use on the skin):

  • Overall Topical Application: Make a dilution blend of up to 2-4% in any carrier oil or unscented lotion (10-20 drops per tablespoon of carrier oil). Apply a small portion of this blend, do not exceed 10 drops per application per day, for the following:
    • Repel Insects:
      • Mosquitoes
      • Ants and Chiggers
      • Fleas and Ticks

 

Diffusion Application (add a few drops to a nebulizer or nasal inhaler):

  • Repel Insects:
    • Mosquitoes
    • Ants / Chiggers
    • Fleas / Ticks

Note: Sprinkle a few drops on your campfire wood and/or candles to help repel insects.

The ingredients of Bugs BeGone are Citronella, Rosemary, Lavandin Grosso, Eucalyptus Citriodora, Peppermint, and Catnip Essential Oils.

Citronella has an uplifting, joyous aroma from being a cheery lemon-scented oil. It is also rich with the geranium-scented natural chemical geraniol, which gives Rose Geranium its mood-lifting aroma.* Citronella has an uncanny ability to revive exhausted bodies and relieve sore muscles at the same time.* It not only repels annoying insects, but Citronella actually deters head lice when applied to the scalp.*

Rosemary is known for its ability to wake up the body and spirit.* Therefore, it is most commonly used in hair care products as it is reputed to renew hair growth and prevent premature baldness.* It has also been shown to help deter insects like mosquitoes and ticks. Rosemary is also known to have a positive effect on the cephalic regions: clearing the mind as well as improving memory and overall brain function.*

Lavandin Grosso is one of two siblings spawned by the parent plants True Lavender and Spike Lavender. Lavandin can be grown more easily than True Lavender; thus, it is less expensive. However, it has different chemical and therapeutic properties than True Lavender, and the two should not be used interchangeably. Lavandin's aroma is sharper, more piercing, and longer lasting than that of Lavender. Commonly, it is used in perfumes, cosmetics, soaps, and lotions. It is said to be antiseptic, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial with an amazing calming effect.* Lavandin is a natural insect repellent; thus, you can place a few drops around your home or on yourself to help deter insects.

Eucalyptus Citriodora, also known as Lemon Eucalyptus, is a variety of Eucalyptus with a Citronella-like aroma. It is the essential oil with the highest content of citronellal, (65- 80%). Therefore, it is very popular as an insect repellent. Eucalyptus Citriodora Essential Oil has strong purifying abilities and specifically benefits skin, respiration, and immunity.* Its powerful effects make Eucalyptus Citriodora a household staple.

The fresh, slightly spicy, mint aroma of Peppermint saturates a room with freshness, clarity, and vitality.* Refreshing and stimulating, Peppermint Essential Oil has remarkably immediate effects on mental functioning.* It seems to produce clear thinking and the ability to focus.* Peppermint can also be used as an excellent pain reliever and is always useful to have around.* It has also been found to repel mosquitoes, ants, spiders, and other insects.

Catnip, also known as Catmint, is a part of the mint family and is known for its ability to make cats "high" on its leaves as they are most often stuffed into their toys. It is also known to help treat colds, fevers, and most recently, it's ability as an insect repellent.* Catnip is very effective at repelling mosquitos, and the essential oil lasts longer and does better overall compared to a fresh Catnip plant.
