Purity ensures you receive the true life force of the plant and not a synthetic chemical. Most essential oils worldwide are produced for the flavor, fragrance and toiletry industry. Those industries don't need a natural product, so the oils are commonly industrially processed. Nature-identical synthetic substances or other compounds not originating from the plant are commonly added. Suppliers that are not organic pass the pesticides on to you.
For example, when citris oils are cold pressed, the peel of the fruit is shredded and mechanically pressed. It's filtered or passed through a centrifuge to skim the oil off the top of the remaining liquid.
