About the Plant:

Petitgrain Organic Essential Oil is distilled from the twigs and leaves of the bitter orange evergreen tree. The name "Petitgrain" comes from the French word “petit grains” meaning “little seeds”. Centuries ago they used to distill the Petitgrain Essential Oil from the tiny, unripe green oranges.

Neroli Essential Oil comes from the same tree as Petitgrain Essential Oil, but instead of using the leaves and twigs, Neroli's Essential Oil is distilled from the fragrant orange blossoms. Note: the name "Petitgrain" can also refer to oil distilled from leaves of Lemon, Bergamot, or Mandarin; so please check the full name to ensure which one you are receiving.

Where it Grows:

Petitgrain is native to southern China and north-eastern India. It now grows in tropical and semi-tropical areas such as: Italy, Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, West Africa, and Paraguay.

Traditional Lore:

Petitgrain was transported to Paraguay in the 18th-century by the Spanish Jesuits. It has become a common ingredient in eau-de-cologne, perfume, and soaps ever since.
